How we protect your information

Short answer: Your financial information is encrypted at rest and in transit, stored behind a hardware firewall with active threat monitoring, and never shared with anyone outside the firm except where required to service your account or comply with the law. No advisor can guarantee perfect security. What we can guarantee is that we treat your data with the same seriousness we treat your retirement.

What we actually do

Most advisory sites say some version of "we take your security seriously" and leave it there. Here's what that means at Singh PWM in practice, not just in a compliance document you'll never read.

  1. Encrypted password management. Every credential used to access client accounts is stored in an encrypted password manager, not a browser, not a spreadsheet, not a sticky note.
  2. Network-level threat monitoring. Our systems run behind a dedicated firewall with intrusion detection, not a stock router, so unusual activity gets flagged and blocked automatically, not discovered after the fact.
  3. Full-disk encryption on every device. Laptops and phones used to access your information are encrypted, so a lost or stolen device isn't a lost or stolen client file.
  4. Multi-factor authentication everywhere it matters. Email, password manager, and custodian access on our end all require a second step beyond a password, so a stolen password alone isn't enough to get in.
  5. No AI tool touches your Social Security number, date of birth, account numbers, or address. We use AI tools to help draft communications and speed up research, the same way any modern firm does. Those tools are never given your identifying financial details, and any AI-assisted work is reviewed by Raman personally before it reaches you.
  6. A written policy for money movement. Any request to wire funds or change account instructions gets a phone call to a number already on file, never a reply to an email. This is the single most common way advisory clients get defrauded, and it's the one we built a hard rule around.

Where this actually matters to you

Here's a real pattern we planned for, not a hypothetical: a fraudster emails a client from a lookalike address, "Raman," asking them to wire a distribution to a "new account." If that email ever reaches you, the answer is simple: call the office directly at the number on our site, not the number in the email, before doing anything. We will never ask you to move money or change your information by email alone. If you're ever unsure whether something came from us, call and ask. We'd rather field ten unnecessary calls than have you wire money to someone who isn't us.

Why this is different from most advisors

Raman Singh, CFP® since 2016 and EA since 2026, built Singh PWM as a flat-fee fiduciary practice, which means there's no incentive structure pushing him to cut corners on operations to hit an AUM number. Security, like fee transparency, is one more place where being small, direct, and accountable to you personally beats a call center reading from a script.

What this is not

This isn't a guarantee that no breach can ever happen, no firm of any size can honestly promise that, and you should be skeptical of any advisor who does. It's also not a substitute for your own good habits. The single most useful thing you can do in the next five minutes is turn on multi-factor authentication on your custodian login and your client portal, if you haven't already. A password alone, even a strong one, is not enough on its own if it's ever guessed, reused, or leaked somewhere else. Most custodians, including Schwab, support this with a phone app or text code, and it takes about two minutes to set up. Beyond that: use a strong, unique password for your accounts, and call us directly any time a request involving your money or your information feels even slightly off.

Questions about how your information is handled

If you want more detail on any of this, ask. No commitment. No sales agenda. 30 minutes.
