SWITCHING FROM FISHER INVESTMENTS
Switching From Fisher Investments? Here's What Actually Changes.
The person you talk to at Fisher Investments, your "Investment Counselor," is a relationship and service role, not the person setting your investment strategy. Portfolio decisions are made centrally, applied across model "buckets" by age, risk, and goals, for a client base built primarily through a large national advertising budget.

HOW FISHER INVESTMENTS IS ACTUALLY STRUCTURED
Programs, Fees, and Minimums.
Personal Wealth Management (single tiered program)
Commonly cited minimum of $500,000-$1,000,000. Tiered AUM fee: roughly 1.25% on the first $1M, 1.125% on the next $4M, 1.00% above $5M, blended and declining as assets grow.
Tax return preparation
Not included. Fisher refers clients to outside vetted CPA firms rather than preparing tax returns itself.
HOW THE INCENTIVES WORK
What's Publicly Documented About Gathering Assets.
None of this is a secret. It comes from Fisher Investments's own disclosures and industry trade press. It's worth understanding because it explains how the relationship is structured, not because any individual advisor is doing something wrong.
- The client-facing Investment Counselor role is a relationship and service position, not the person making portfolio decisions: investment strategy is set centrally by Fisher's Investment Policy Committee and applied across model "buckets" based on age, risk, and goals, not built individually by your Counselor.
- Fisher is reported to spend roughly 6%-10% of revenue on advertising, an estimated $70 million a year, multiples of the roughly 2% typical for RIAs, funding a marketing-led growth model. A recent TV ad campaign was reported to have added $88 billion in AUM in 18 months, per RIABiz.
- One former-employee account describes roughly 190 households per Investment Counselor (unverified, but directionally consistent with a marketing-scale acquisition model rather than a capacity-limited one). Fisher serves 200,000+ clients firm-wide on $387B+ in AUM.
Households per advisor: ~190 per Investment Counselor by one unverified former-employee account; not an official Fisher disclosure.
WORTH ASKING DIRECTLY
Three Questions for Your Current Advisor.
01
Is the person I talk to actually making my investment decisions, or is that set centrally for everyone in my model bucket?
02
Who prepares my tax return?
03
Is my fee negotiable, and does it decrease further as my balance grows?
WHAT'S DIFFERENT AT SINGH PWM
A Fixed Fee. No Asset-Gathering Incentive. One Person.
Singh PWM charges a flat annual fee that doesn't change based on how much of your money you bring over, doesn't pay Raman Singh more for recruiting your account from another firm, and includes tax return preparation under the same Enrolled Agent who builds your retirement plan. The practice also caps its total client base at roughly 55 to 60 households, on purpose, well below the loads described above.
